Problematic Sexual Behaviours in Relationships
Understanding Problematic Sexual Behaviours in Relationships
As couples therapists, we will all encounter sexual issues in the therapy room — but knowing how to recognise and respond to problematic sexual behaviours in relationships can feel daunting or unclear.
This recorded CPD webinar, led by psychotherapist and sexual addiction specialist Donal Clifford, offers clear, clinically grounded guidance on a topic many therapists feel unprepared for. You’ll explore how to assess, understand, and respond to behaviours that may be compulsive, secretive, or damaging — all within the context of relationship therapy.
What You’ll Learn
In this 2-hour CPD training, Donal covers:
- The difference between healthy and unhealthy sexual behaviours in relationships
- Core frameworks for understanding sexual compulsivity, addiction, and impulsivity
- An overview of paraphilic and non-paraphilic sexual behaviours
- Clinical language and how to use it without shame or judgement
- The origins and progression of problematic sexual behaviours
- How to work with couples where sexual issues are affecting connection and trust
- The importance of therapist steadiness, boundaries, and referral when needed
This training is a valuable resource for any therapist who wants to feel more informed and confident when sex becomes a central theme in therapy.
